Abstract

In the context of a tribute to the heritage of Maria Pia Carosella, the origins of Italian Information Science and the development of CERTIDoc Italia have been retraced. CERTIDoc was the Italian body designed to carry out the certification process in the domain of Documentation, Librarianship & Information Science. It was founded based on the work and expertise of Maria Pia Carosella, specially for its contribution to the Italian translation of the Euroréférentiel I&D: référentiel des compétences des professionnels européens de l’information et documentation.
