Abstract

E-health refers to the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to enhance the efficiency, quality of care, and access to healthcare services. The adoption of artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and IoT (Internet of Things) devices has enabled a more personalized and preventive approach to health. However, significant challenges remain in terms of privacy, data security, and standardization of information. Knowledge organization systems, such as classifications and controlled vocabularies, are crucial for facilitating interoperability between different healthcare settings. These systems enable effective data collection, management, and sharing, supporting public health surveillance. A key example is the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), which, although fundamental for clinical data analysis, requires continuous updates to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare domain.
