A significant barrier to improving this communication lies in enhancing healthcare providers’
awareness of the implicit nuances embedded in pre-operative risk discussions. This study seeks to address this gap in the existing literature by exploring the issue through the framework of the philosophy of language, with a particular focus on pragmatic analysis as a tool to uncover implicit meanings in doctor-patient interactions. By applying this approach to examine instances
of risk evaluation of cardiac surgery, the study provides an empirical analysis of collected data, highlighting the limitations of contemporary models in detecting misunderstandings. Finally, the study outlines potential directions for future research, emphasizing the critical need to advance strategies for improving risk communication in medical contexts.
Monica Consolandi Simone Magnolini Mauro Dragoni Copyright (c) 2025 AIDAinformazioni 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 43 1-2 9 22 10.57574/596554931 Enhancing technoscientific heritage and introducing concepts into culture in the age of data, semantic web, and Artificial Intelligence https://cacuccibiblioteca.it/riviste/index.php/aida/article/view/141
In Semantic Web age, enhancing heritage means bringing collections beyond the confines of the museum. But this ethical mission of transmitting culture and knowledge to the general public is made complex by the massive and heterogeneous data that museums now have to manage. As data are now the new collections of museums, they are the starting point for the ITinHeritage project. It focuses on Information Technology (IT) heritage, the preservation of which is of general interest, and raises the question of “How to pass on complex scientific and technical concepts embodied in artefacts not mediators in themselves?” Backed by European science and IT museums, we develop innovative Digital Humanities approaches, combining terminology, Linked Open Data (LOD), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. In this article we set out the context of our questioning and present the basis of the answer we wish to provide, i.e. the onto-terminological work.
Caroline Djambian Copyright (c) 2025 AIDAinformazioni 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 43 1-2 23 44 10.57574/596554932 I Knowledge Organization Systems come strumenti di sorveglianza sanitaria https://cacuccibiblioteca.it/riviste/index.php/aida/article/view/142
E-health refers to the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to enhance the efficiency, quality of care, and access to healthcare services. The adoption of artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and IoT (Internet of Things) devices has enabled a more personalized and preventive approach to health. However, significant challenges remain in terms of privacy, data security, and standardization of information. Knowledge organization systems, such as classifications and controlled vocabularies, are crucial for facilitating interoperability between different healthcare settings. These systems enable effective data collection, management, and sharing, supporting public health surveillance. A key example is the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), which, although fundamental for clinical data analysis, requires continuous updates to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare domain.
Erika Pasceri Copyright (c) 2025 AIDAinformazioni 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 43 1-2 45 62 10.57574/596554933 La cartella clinica tra analogico e digitale: gestione e conservazione a norma https://cacuccibiblioteca.it/riviste/index.php/aida/article/view/143
This paper analyzes the status of the implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in Italy, focusing on the transition from analog to digital systems. Through a definition of medical record and outlining its structure and primary functions, the distinction between the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and the EMR is then clarified, examining their Italian equivalents: Fascicolo Sanitario Elettronico (FSE) and Cartella Clinica Elettronica (CCE). Moreover, an overview of key European initiatives that aim to enhance health data exchange and interoperability in support of EMR development and adoption is presented. The discussion then turns to the Italian context, examining: i) the transition phase from analog to digital in medical record workflows; ii) the differences between the management and preservation of analog and digital medical records; iii) the probative value of analog versus digital records; and, iv) the legal requirements for long-term preservation of medical records and their contents
Grazia Serratore Copyright (c) 2025 AIDAinformazioni 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 43 1-2 63 84 10.57574/596554934 Schiavitù e invented archives. Intelligenza Artificiale generativa nella costruzione del Database on the Slave Trade https://cacuccibiblioteca.it/riviste/index.php/aida/article/view/144
This essay examines the construction of the Database on the Slave Trade between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic (15th–16th centuries) as a case study to explore the transformative role of generative Artificial Intelligence tools in historical and archival research. Positioned within the framework of histoire sérielle, the project addresses methodological challenges related to the datafication of sources on Mediterranean and Atlantic slavery, showing how invented archives function as epistemic spaces where memory, computation, and interpretation intersect. The use of LLMs (Large Language Models) for data extraction, encoding, and modeling raises critical issues concerning scientific validity, algorithmic opacity, and the indispensable role of human oversight. The essay offers a critical reflection on the integration of Digitality and Historiography, highlighting both the limitations and potentials of emerging technologies in transforming historical documents into queryable cybertexts and in fostering the collaborative construction of historical memory.

La ricerca si e avvalsa di un finanziamento dell’Unione europea – Next Generation EU – missione 4, componente 2, investimento 1.1, nell’ambito del programma PRIN-PNRR.
